The BCM56624 is the sixth generation of the highly integrated Broadcom StrataSwitch® and StrataXGS® product line. The BCM56624 product family provides carrier-class features and extensible off-chip tables for larger enterprise LAN, access, and metro networks. The BCM56624 supports 48-Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports with four 10-GbE/HiGig2™ ports.

The BCM56624 are capable of operating at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The HiGig+™/HiGig2 uplink interface is used to connect to other StrataXGS devices in a larger stacking system or to the BCM56700/BCM5675 switch fabric via the backplane in a multi-slot redundant chassis system. The integrated 10-GbE switching ports are CX-4-compliant XAUI™ interfaces.
