LM79M05C

The LM79M05C is designed as one kind of 3-terminal negative regulators which is available with fixed output voltages of -5V, -12V, and -15V. These devices need only one external component: a compensation capacitor at the output. It is packaged in the TO-220 power package, and is capable of supplying 0.5A of output current.

It has four features. (1)Thermal, short circuit and safe area protection. (2)High ripple rejection. (3)0.5A output current. (4)4% tolerance on preset output voltage. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its input voltage would be -25V at Vo=-5V and it would be -35V at Vo=-12V, -15V. (2)Its input/output differential would be 25V at Vo=-5V and it would be 30V at Vo=-12V, -15V. (3)Its power dissipation would be internally limited. (4)Its operating junction temperature range would be from 0°C to 125°C. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (6)Its lead temperature soldering 10 seconds would be 230°C. (7)Its ESD susceptibility would be TBD. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its output voltage would be -5V. (2)Its input voltage unless otherwise specified would be -10V. (3)Its output voltage would be min -4.8V and typ -5.0V and max -5.2V. (4)Its line regulation would be typ 8mV and max 50mV. (5)Its load regulation would be typ 30mV and max 100mV. (6)Its quiescent current would be typ 1mA and max 2mA. (7)Its quiescent current change would be max 0.4mA. (8)Its output noise voltage would be typ 150uV. (9)Its ripple rejection would be min 54dB and typ 66dB. (10)Its dropout voltage would be typ 1.1V. And so on.
