The MC145159FN1 is designed as one kind of serial input PLL frequency synthesizer with analog phase detector. It has programmable 14-bit reference counter, as well as program-mable divide-by-N/ divide-by-A counters. The counters are programmed serially through a common data input and latched into the appropriate counter latch, according to the last data bit (control bit) entered.

It has eight features. (1)General purpose applications include CATV, TV tuning, AM/FM radios, scanning receivers, two way radios and amateur radio. (2)Low power consumption through use of CMOS technology. (3)3.0V to 9.0V supply voltage. (4)On- or off-chip reference oscillator operation. (5)Compatible with the serial peripheral interface (SPI) on CMOS MCUs. (6)/R range is 3 to 16383. (7)/N range is 16 to 1023 and /A range is 0 to 127. (8)High gain analog phase detector. Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its DC supply voltage would be from -0.5V to 10V. (2)Its input or output voltage DC or transient would be from -0.5V to Vdd+0.5V. (3)Its input or output current DC or transient per pin would be +/-10mA. (4)Its supply current Vdd or Vss pins would be +/-30mA. (5)Its power dissipation per package would be 500mW. (6)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (7)Its lead temperature 8-second soldering would be 260°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics at Vdd=3V are concluded as follow. (1)Its power supply voltage range would be min 3V and max 9V. (2)Its output voltage low level would be max 0.05V. (3)Its output voltage high level would be min 2.95V. (4)Its input voltage low level would be max 0.9V. (5)Its input voltage high level would be min 2.1V. And so on.
