The Multiple Rate Digital Switch (MRDX) is an pgraded version of Zarlink's MT8980D Digital witch (DX). It is pin compatible with the MT8980D nd retains all of its functionality. This device is esigned to provide simultaneous connections (nonblocking) or up to 256 64kb/s channels or blocking onnections for up to 512 64kb/s channels. The erial inputs and outputs connected to MT8986 may ave 32 to 128 64kb/s channels per frame with data ates ranging from 2048 up to 8192 kb/s. The T8986 provides per-channel selection between ariable and constant throughput delays allowing oice and grouped data channels to be switched\ thout corrupting the data sequence integrity.
In addition, the MT8986 can be used for switching of 2 kb/s channels in ADPCM applications. The T8986 is ideal for medium size mixed voice and ata switching/processing applications.
