The S2560A is designed as one kind of pulse dlaler with complete pin/funtion compatibility. It is recommended to be used in all new and sxisting designs. Most electrical specifications for both devices are identical.
Some important electrical characteristics of S2560A have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its operating voltage dialing would be from 1.5V to 3.5V. (2)Its operating voltage voice mode would be from 1.5V to 3.5V. (3)Its data retention voltage minimum would be 1.0V. (4)Its Idd operating current would be 100uA at 1.5V and would be 500uA at 3.5V. (5)Its Idd standby current would be 750nA at 1V. (6)Its keyboard debounce time would be 16ms. (7)Its X-Y keyboard interface which means capacitors required between column inputs and Vss. (8)Its redial buffer would be 20 digits. (9)Its dialing characteristics which means accepts a maximum of 20 digits and will not dial additional digits. (10)Its inter-digit pause timing which would mean precedes dial pulses. These are all the important electrical specifications about it.
Also some application suggestions of S2560A are concluded as follow. In most existing designs the S2560G will work in place of S2560A without any modifications. Problems may arise however, if keyboard bounce time exceeds 10ms. In such a case, the device may interpret a single key entry as a double key. To avoid this false detection, the keyboard debounce time can be easily increased from 10ms to 20ms by changing the oscillator frequency from 2400Hz down to 1200Hz. This is done by changing the value of the capacitor connected to pin 7 from 270Pf to 470Pf. To preserve the dialing rate at 10pps and IDP at 800ms the DRS and IDP pins now must be connected to Vdd instead to Vss. And so on.
