The SC1150 is designed as one kind of programmable DC/DC controller which contains most of the circuitry necessary to implement a DC/DC converter for powering the intel pentium pro microprocessor, both in single and multiple processor configurations. Typical applications include pentium pro processor supplies, pentium pro processor VRM modules, 2.0V to 3.5V microprocessor supplies and programmable power supplies.

SC1150 has four features. (1)85% efficiency. (2)4 bit DAC for output programmability. (3)On-chip power good and OVP functions. (4)Meets intel pentium pro VRM8.0 specifications. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of SC1150 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its Vcc to GND would be from -0.3V to 7V. (2)Its PGND to GND would be +/-1V. (3)Its BST to GND would be from -0.3V to 15V. (4)Its operating temperature range would be from 0°C to 70°C. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (6)Its lead temperature soldering 10 seconds would be 300°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of SC1150 are concluded as follow. (1)Its load regulation would be typ 1%. It should ne noted that low output currents, below the continuous conduction threshold will cause an increase in output voltage beyond the load regulation limit. (2)Its line regulation would be typ 0.5%. (3)Its UV lockout would be max 4.2V. (4)Its current limit voltage would be min 60mV and typ 70mV and max 80mV. (5)Its oscillator frequency would be min 180KHz and typ 200kHz and max 220kHz. (6)Its oscillator max duty cycle would be min 90% and typ 95%. (7)Its DH sink/source current would be min 1A with test conditions of BST-DH=4.5V, DH-PGND=2V. (8)Its output voltage tempco would be typ 65ppm/°C. And so on.
