The SG3423 is designed as one kind of monolithic integrated circuits which provides the control functions necessary to protect sensitive electronic circuitry from over-voltage transients or the effects of voltage regulator failure. It is designed for use with an external SCR "crowbar" for immediate shutdown of the power supply, but additionally provides logic level outputs for regulator turn-off and/or operator or system out-of-tolerance indication.
SG3423 has six features. (1)Operation from 4.5V to 40V. (2)Highly accurate sensing threshold. (3)Built-in input hysteresis. (4)Programmable time delay. (5)SCR "crowbar" drive of 200mA. (6)Remote activation capability. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of SG3423 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its input supply voltage would be 40V. (2)Its sense voltage 1 input range would be Vin. (3)Its sense voltage 2 input range would be 6.5V. (4)Its reference load current would be 10mA. (5)Its indicator output voltage would be 40V. (6)Its indicator output current would be 50mA. (7)Its operating junction temperature would be 150°C. (8)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (9)Its lead temperature soldering 10 seconds would be 300°C.
