SL440

The SL440 is designed as one kind of versatile integrated circuits which provides variable-phase control of triacs and other power switching devices in a variety of domestic and industrial applications. Its typical applications include lamp dimmers, automatic lamp faders and motor speed control. It uses in a motor speed control circuit. The DC motor/tacho-generator is used in a velocity servo loop in which motor velocity is linearity proportional to the setting of RV1, RV2 controls the maximum motor current in the range of 1 to 10A.

SL440 has six features. (1)Conduction control. (2)Crossover detector. (3)Servo amplifier. (4)Internal stabilised supply (available for external circuitry). (5)Total power shut-down facility. (6)AC load current limitation. Those are all the main features.

Some SL440 absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C. (2)Its operating temperature range would be from -10°C to 85°C. (3)Its package dissipation would be 600mW. (4)Its supply current to pin 2 would be 200mA DC. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some SL440 electrical characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its firing pulse width would be typ 50us. (2)Its max pulse current would be min 60mA and typ 120mA. (3)Its current to pin 3 would be min 15mA and max 30mA. (4)Its inhibit operating voltage pin 4 would be min 0V and max 5V. (5)Its voltage at pin 3 (internally stabilised) would be typ 11.3V. (6)Its static gain of servo amplifier would be typ 75. (7)Its current limit input threshold would be typ +/-0.7V. And so on.
