The SPX1086U is one member of the SPX1084 family which is designed as the low power 5A adjustable and fixed voltage regulator that can be used in (1)powering VGA & sound card; (2)power PC supplies; (3)smps post-regulator; (4)high efficiency "green" computer systems; (5)high efficiency linear power supplies; (6)portable instrumentation; (7)constant current regulators; (8)adjustable power supplies; (9)battery charger. also this device offers full protection against over-current faults, reversed input polarity, reversed load insertion, and positive and negative transient voltage.

Features of the SPX1086U are:(1)adjustable output down to 1.2V; (2)output current Of 5A; (3)low dropout voltage 1.1V typ.; (4)extremely tight load and line regulation; (5)fixed output voltages 1.5, 2.5, 3.3 & 5.0V; (6)current & thermal limiting; (7)standard 3-terminal low cost TO-220 & TO-263; (8)similar to industry standard LT1085/LT1585.
