The ST232ECD is designed as a 2 driver 2 receiver devices designed for RS-232 and V.28 communications in harsh environments. Each transmitter output and receiver input is protected against ± 15KV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks. The drivers meet all EIA/TIA-232E and CCITT V.28 specifications at data rates up to 230Kbps, when loaded in accordance with the EIA/TIA-232E specification. It use a single 5V supply voltage.
ST232ECD has four features. (1) ESD protection for RS-232 I/O pins: ±15kV human body model. (2) Guaranteed 230kbps date rate. (3) Guaranteed slew rate range 3 to 30V/ms. (4) Operate from a single 5V power supply. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of ST232ECD have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its supply voltage would be from -0.3 to 6V. (2) Its extra positive voltage would be from (Vcc - 0.3) to 14V. (3) Its extra negative voltage would be from -14 to 0.3V. (4) Its transmitter input voltage range would be from -0.3 to (V+ + 0.3)V. (5) Its receiver input voltage range would be ±30V. (6) Its transmitter output voltage range would be from (V- - 0.3) to (V+ + 0.3)V. (7) Its receiver output voltage range would be from -0.3 to (VCC + 0.3)V. (8) Its short circuit duration on Tout would be infinite. (9) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +150°C. It should be noted that absolute maximum ratings are those values beyond which damage to the device may occur. Functional operation under these condition is not implied.
