PCM1740 General Description

The PCM1740 is a complete stereo audio digital-to-analogconverter with on-chip PLL and VCXO. The PCM1740 isdesigned specifically for set-top box applications requiringhigh-quality audio playback, a precision tuned 27MHz mas-ter clock source, and support for multiple audio-samplingfrequencies.

The stereo D/A converter utilizes multi-bit, delta-sigmaarchitecture, which includes an 8x interpolation filter, third-order noise shaping, 5-level amplitude quantization, and ananalog low-pass filter. The PCM1740 includes a number ofuser-programmable functions, which are accessed via astandard I2C-Bus interface.
