Circuit of Heathkit GP-21 automatic charger is self-controlling (Q1 and Q2) and provides protection against shorted or reversed battery leads (Q3 and Q4). Zener D8 is not standard value, so may be obtainable only in Heathkits. D1, D2, and D7 should all be on one heatsink.-H.
