Diodes and Rectifiers

The primary function of diodes in model railroading is to allow the flow of current in one direction only. This is generally referred to as rectification. Diodes have many uses such as to convert an alternating current to a direct current for power supplies and throttles and to route current in matrix circuits for switch machine controls.
