The picture above shows circuit diagram of nickel-cadmium cell that uses solar energy.The solar panel can provide 6V voltage, LT1073 will detect charge current through the 13Ω resistor and willmaintain 16mA fixed charging current in the nickel-cadmiumcell.LT1073 will shut off the charging circuit when the output voltageon thesolar panelofthelow-voltage detector descends to 4V.When the voltageascends toabove 5V, the cell can be recharged again.
