This CMOS inverting square-wave oscillator can be varied over a wide range. Note that R2 should be 10 times the value of R1, as shown. IC can be a CMOS inverter, or else a NOR or NAND gate wired as an inverter. The frequency is approximately 1/(2.2R1,C1).
