Littelfuse was founded in 1927 by Edward V. Sundt. Sundt invented the first small, fast-acting protective fuse to prevent sensitive test meters from burning out. From that pioneering first step, the company has gone on to define the standards of the circuit protection industry. In the 1960s, Littelfuse developed sub-miniature fuses for NASA, which were mission-critical components of the American space program. And in 1976, it introduced the groundbreaking Autofuse® Fast-Acting Fuse for General Motors. Within eight years, it was being designed into vehicles all over the world and has been developing industry-leading circuit protection products by working closely with our customers. These unique partnerships have led to such innovations as the first small, fast-acting protective fuse in 1927, the first automotive blade fuses and the world's smallest SIDACtor® device.

In 2010, Littelfuse receives supplier excellence award from arrow electronics, and raises guidance for second quarter. Then Littelfuse releases new solar products to meet growing industry needs SPFR Series 100 VDC Solar Fuse and SPFRHD Series 1000 VDC Fuseholder. Littelfuse Introduces SP1005 and SP1007 Series Bidirectional 0201 TVS Diodes for ESD Protection.  On Jun 17, 2010,  Littelfuse Introduces PLED5HT Series Open LED Protector that Keeps LED Strings Lighted and Protects Them from Damage
