Founded in 1990, KEMET Corporation is a leading company engaging in the capacitors. KEMET Corporation is evolved from Kemet Laboratories which was established by Union Carbide Corporation in 1919. KEMET is headquartered in South Carolina, USA. The company has three Innovation Centers, two located in South Carolina and one located in Heidenheim, Germany. Besides, KEMET has set up manufacturing facilities all over the world such as Mexico, China, Italy, England, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Indonesia, Germany and Bulgaria. In addition, KEMET has two specialty electronics companies--FELCO in Chicago, Illinois, and Dectron in Farjestaden, Sweden.

KEMET has a broad line of products which include surface-mount and through-hole capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic, aluminum (organic and electrolytic), film, and paper dielectrics. The products are widely used in computer, telecommunication, automotive, military and aerospace, medical, industrial/instrumentation (including lighting), and consumer market segments. Furthermore, "High Reliability" (Hi-Rel) versions of KEMET capacitors has taken up majority of the military/aerospace market ranging from the first Telstar to Viking to the Apollo moon landing, the Patriot missile, and the Mir and International Space Stations. Under the continuous endeavour, most of the manufacturing facilities has been ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 certified and some are CECC certified. The company is dedicated to providing its capacitors to the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers, and electronics distributors around the world.
